How to Fix Magento Product Save Button Not Working
Imagine entering details for a large number of products and then you proceed to click on the Save button, but nothing happens. There’s no error message, but you know that the button is not working. You are worried about all your effort going to waste and rightly so. We understand that entering the product details is not enjoyable.
Nevertheless, it is a critical component of running a successful eCommerce store. So, what to do? Don’t worry as there’s an easy fix. But we would like to clearly mention that the product button may not work for several reasons. Knowing these reasons will automatically help you understand how to fix the issue.
Reasons Behind Product Save Button Not Working in Magento 2
1. Check Advanced Pricing or Inventory Tabs
Usually, when entering product information, we enter invalid values. This is mostly in the Advanced Pricing and Advanced Inventory tabs. So, what you need to do is head to the Advanced Pricing tab and check each sub-option carefully. Ensure that all sub-options such as Special Price, Cost, or Tier Price are correctly filled.
For example, you opted for the Price From and Price To option. If you leave the Special Price tab empty, Magento will consider it as an invalid entry. The reason is you need to clearly define the Special/Discounted price for the given range.
2. Custom Attributes
Another reason the Magento 2 Product Save button may not be working is because of a third party extension. Most store owners use custom code or an extension to add custom fields to product attributes. All you need to do is ensure that all custom attributes and fields are correctly configured.
3. Incorrect Permissions
Thirdly, ensure that you have the correct permissions. Usually, the user trying to save the product information is not authorised to make the changes.
4. Database Issues
There may be a slight possibility that your database is the reason behind the error. In that case, check the database log for any errors or simply repair the database using the below command:
php bin/magento setup:db:status
php bin/magento setup:upgrade
5. Cache Issues
Lastly, clear the Magento cache using the below commands:
php bin/magento cache:clean
php bin/magento cache:flush.
Afterwards, clear your browser cache and restart it.
Final Thoughts
If none of the above options work for you, there might be a more serious problem. The only option is to hire a Magento Development Company who’ll investigate the issue and recommend the most appropriate fix.
